Make your first test call
Call your own business number from your mobile, let it ring out, and watch the missed call and the text arrive.
Updated
A test call from your own mobile proves that forwarding reaches Catchline and that the text-back goes out. Catchline recognises a call from the cell number saved under Settings, Phone and forwarding (or from the alert number under Notifications) as a test: it marks forwarding as verified and does not alert you about it as if it were a customer.
Run the test
Open the Test step of setup, or Settings, Phone and forwarding, and start the test. Catchline watches for your call for two minutes.
From your mobile, call your business number (or your Catchline number if you publish that as your line) and let it ring until it stops. Do not answer it from another handset.
Within about ten seconds your mobile receives the text-back. The page shows when the call arrived and whether the text-back went out or, if it was skipped, why.
Open the booking link in the text to see your booking page the way a customer sees it.
If your business number is your mobile
You cannot ring your own phone. Ask someone else to call it and let it ring out. The Test step lets you enter their number so that their call counts as the test.
If nothing arrives
- Wait the full two minutes. Some carriers take longer to hand the call over the first time.
- Check that the forwarding code was accepted. Most phones play a tone or show a confirmation message when the code takes.
- Make sure you called from the number saved as your cell under Settings, Phone and forwarding. A call from any other phone is treated as a customer.
- If the page says the text was skipped, it also says why: paused, plan not active, opted out, blocked, or a send failure. Each has a fix in Customers are not getting texts.
Your protection status and the time of your last test call are shown at the top of Settings, Phone and forwarding. Run the test again whenever you change phones or carriers.
Still stuck?
Email us with your business name and what you were trying to do. Screenshots help. If a page here does not match what you see in Catchline, say so and we will fix the page.
