Messaging policy
Effective September 3, 2026
Catchline sends text messages on behalf of local service businesses such as plumbers, electricians and salons. This page explains exactly when a message is sent, what it contains, how someone consents to receive it, and how to stop.
Who sends the messages
Every message is sent on behalf of an individual business that uses Catchline, and the first message in any conversation names that business. Catchline (catchlinehq.com) is the software provider; the business you contacted is the sender.
How someone consents to be texted
There are two ways, and no message is sent without one of them:
- You called the business and it could not answer. The business replies once, by text, to the number you called from, about the call you just made. This is a reply to your own enquiry.
- You submitted the business's online booking form. The form states, next to the phone field, that the business may text you about the booking, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and that you can reply STOP to opt out.
Numbers are never bought, rented or shared, and no marketing list is ever loaded into Catchline.
What the messages say
- A reply to a missed call. One message saying which business you called, that it is busy, and how to book or reply.
- A booking confirmation. The service, the date and time, and a link to change or cancel it.
- A reminder the day before a booked appointment.
- A review request after a job is completed, with a link to the business's public review page.
- Replies from the business. The owner or their staff answering you personally.
No message advertises Catchline itself, and none is sent to a number that has opted out.
Message frequency, rates, stopping and help
Message frequency varies and depends on your own activity: typically one reply to a missed call, and a handful of messages around a booking. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. The block is applied automatically and immediately, and it stops every automated message to that number, from that business, until you text the business again. Reply HELP for help, or contact the business directly on the number you called.
If a business will not stop texting you, tell us at hello@catchlinehq.com and we will block the number ourselves.
Your information
Phone numbers and message contents are held so the business can see its own conversation history. They are not sold, and they are not shared with anyone except the providers that carry the messages and host the service. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. The full detail, and how to have your information removed, is in our privacy policy.
