Opt-outs and STOP
A customer who replies STOP is opted out at once. What that means, and how they opt back in.
Updated
On this page
Any customer can reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to a text from your number. Catchline marks them as opted out immediately. This is a legal requirement and it is automatic; there is nothing to configure.
What opted out means
- No more automatic texts to that number: no text-backs, confirmations, reminders or review requests.
- You cannot text them from the inbox either. The reply box tells you why.
- Their calls are still logged and still alert you, so you can call them back.
- They show an Opted out badge in the inbox.
Opting back in
They text START, UNSTOP or YES to your Catchline number and the block is lifted. You cannot lift it for them, and you should not press them to; a customer who wants to hear from you again will text.
Blocking is different
Opting out is the customer's choice. Blocking is yours: open the conversation in the inbox and choose Block. A blocked number gets no text-backs, cannot be replied to, cannot book online, and never alerts you; its calls are still logged. Unblock from the same place.
The consent rules Catchline follows are on the messaging policy page. A customer who cannot get a business to stop can email hello@catchlinehq.com and we block the number ourselves.
